Kook-suits Go Vintage

Growing up a 'grommet' on the pristine beaches of South-East Queensland, we always had a laugh at the tourists who'd spend half-an-hour stretching and then suit up for two foot slosh in the middle of summer. Being a daughter of a local "legend" (though I'd hardly go so far as to call my dad a legend at the risk of sounding as ridiculous as it actually is) and having a mother with her own surf label, its been an absolute pleasure to witness the pastel palettes of 90s wet suits come back in fashion some fifteen years later. Though, not as pleasurable knowing I've still got my originals stored away somewhere.

As we've all seen, Russh did a sizzling editorial for their January/Febuary issue bringing back the kooksuit and all its glory. And now Cynthia Rowley (an avid surfer herself) has collaborated with female surf label Roxy and produced one of the most fashion forward surf-wear collections I've ever seen. Completely appropriate for the current trend barometer, Rowley nailed it with the palette and even featured this season's hero fabric: Neoprene! Neoprene this, neoprene that, neoprene headbands? Shaka, Cynthia. Shaka.
