Lust List: Jeffrey Campbell x Pixie Market

I am absolutely lusting over these Austen Floral Shoes. Conceived by collaboration between shoe king Jeffrey Campbell and the owners of Pixie Market, I hope I get a chance to snap these up before the feverish masses beat me to it.Share

Blogroll Update

So my Google Reader is in desperate need of a makeover. When I have some spare time I try to catch up on old blogs I haven't read in months, only to find they've shut down or have dissapointingly fizzled out into nothingness.

My mission? I'm going to run a mini blog search contest, kind of like ANTM but without the challenges and photoshoots and the winner is, well... me!

I'm open for submissions so if you have any blogs that you think need mentioning (that are otherwise relatively undiscovered), comment with the link and what your favourite thing about them is.

To give you an idea, I'm after blogs that have substance. Yes, yes, I love pictorial blogs like KnightCat and the like, but I want to hear what they have to say, read all about their adventures and get insights into the life of a budding fahionista. Take the following blogs for example:

Kicks and Threads - Karla designs for Staple, Minkpink and Minkpink Swim. She has the BEST style on earth (in my opinion) and posts outfits, inspiration, sneak peaks, very regularly. I predict blogger stardom in the near future.

(Left to right) Rachel, Jessy and Sara

Wandering Babcia - Rachelle is an amazing stylist who has a whole lot of miles under her belt, travelling and blogging her fashion finds and behind the scenes snippets of her continious collaborations.

Wide Awake Thoughts - Jessy (mentioned previously) used to work at Sass & Bide, but now runs the local PR and online communications for FrockShop.com and blogs for FS Style.

Harper and Harley - Sarah is a bit of a babe and a bit of an all-rounder on the Brisbane fashion scene. She also started Fashion Marketing Online, a blog dedicated solely to fashion marketing/pr insights.

FrockShop and Fashion Falsehood

This afternoon I was contacted by the lovely Jessy Cameron over at FrockShop.com regarding crossing our blogger/fashion PR paths for a possible cheeky collaboration project. It's just a whisper though, no full blown rumours just yet.

In the mean time FrockShop are offering all my readers a 10% discount on both sale and full price items! Just enter the codeword: FASHIONFALSEHOOD at the checkout to redeem your share of the love. But be quick, the offer is valid until midnight Australian Eastern Standard Time this Sunday the 18th of July... not to mention they're already having an up to 80% off sale on labels such as Antipodium, Camilla and Marc and Elizabeth and James!!!

Speaking of Elizabeth and James, Jessy also sent through some snaps from a recent photoshoot they did using pieces from current season Elizabeth and James, Karla Spetic and Ginger & Smart. I'm inlove with the pallette, especially considering it's starting to feel like winter is ready to surrender to spring already!

Pretty Boy

Melbourne model Andrej Pejic (Chadwicks/Storm) has been the subject of much confusion over the past few months with his gender-bending look having quite a few in the fashion world mistakening him for a her.

Having first appeared on our radars opening the Antipodium show last year at RAFW and now coming to light on the international men's SS2011 circuit (having walked for John Galliano, Raf Simmons, Paul Smith and Jean Paul Gaultier), Pejic has been dubbed the one to watch. Reminiscint of the long haired early 90s version of androgyny championed by Steven Meisel, Pejic's androgynous look is well due for a come back.

The recent RUSSH article about the return of the "all American girl" exemplifies how paralell to wavering fashion trends, types of looks for models also come and go. For arguments sake, take the 'alien' look typified by Gemma Ward for example. Once the novelty had worn off, fashion decided it had had enough of the influx of wide-eyed beauties who would have normally been shunned from the casting rooms and considered too "unconventional" for the catwalks and campaigns of the world. But isn't that the point? That in fashion we appreciate and prefer the unconventional? Sure, we enjoy the classics such as pearls, the little black dress and a splash of Christy Turlington, but isn't it really about the other types of beauty, the types that challenge the norm and make us think?

I find my self marvelling at Pejic the way I'd marvel at models like Daria or Natasha, the way I'd marvel at a female model. There's something about him that is just to stunning. So elegant, so, well... pretty!

Perhaps the reason I am so enthralled by this model is because he reminds me so much of a female. I look at his hair and think "oh his hair really is just so lovely". What male model do I stare at and wish I could emulate? Think about it long enough and it really becomes quite bizarre. Don't get me wrong, I love my scruffy, tough-as-nuts boyfriend who could build me a house with his bare hands (and look damn fine while doing so), but there's just something so appealing about Pejic's anti-adonis delicacy.

What do you think?
