English Mustard

Tonight I'm inwardly debating two issues. We all know how hot Chloe Sevigny is, there's no need for me to post a billion images of her being intimidatingly cool. But I've just seen her wearing mustard. What's so interesting about that? Well the fact that I've been obsessed with this colour ever since I can remember seeing it grace the mannequin of Supre when I was about 13. Also, the fact that since I can remember being obsessed by mustard, I've never been able to wear it because it washes me the hell out (as I'm blonde). Dissapointing, I know.

Now moving onto my second issue: I have blonde hair but have let the roots go. It looks natural - people that don't know me think it's natural and I like that. I like looking like I don't care. I like having the multi-tone blondes. It's intersting. It's beachy. But it's not summer here any more and I'm not feeling the vibe. I can't exactly go sunbake and squeeze lemon juice on my roots without freezing to death. That, and beachy blonde hair looks terribly scrappy when I'm trying to look chic and clean in my winter wardrobe, namely consisting of tailored coats and shiny heels. Chloe's blonde can't be natural, surley? Could I achieve this look AND pull off mustard at the same time?

The debate? Should I fork out and get my roots done (Pip Edwards would be so upset with me) and should I stop frothing over mustard blouses on the rack and actually take them into the change room with me?

Oh god someone tell me who what she is wearing is by, including her shoes!!!

I have the same problem, but a bit of a tan tends to create the illusion of more colour to my skin ;)

get a caramel or dark blonde put in your roots and leave your blonde ends thats what helped me... not too blonde blonde but it looks done.
ughh i NEVER take color to the change room. ever. i need to start.

Ohh that's an idea. You have a great blonde (I creeped your ebay store for pictures haha). By the way, does the black military jumpsuit have pockets? If it does, I HAVE to buy it. Don't have an ebay account but maybe we cab work something out. Email me miannscanlan@gmail.com if it has no bids. Xx

dude im doing the exact same thing with my hair!! a month or so ago (the last time I went to the hairdressers was november) I thought screw it im quitting dying my hair anymore. And it looks awesome - natural mid blonde growing out and fading to light blonde about half way down. It makes me feel way less cliched and prevents anything i wear looking too saccharinely "finished". defintely give it a try! think how much money women are paying for "the pip" x

@emma: I know!! I think to myself 'women actually pay to have regrowth?' Its close to the most absurd thing ever... We got it naturally yay!

Hi Miann!
Thanks so much for your lovely offer to give this kiwi a hand...i'm actually going to the gold coast! I've been there before, but any tips on great shops etc would be so welcomed!
And I must say that your blog is absolutely ace! So going to link you...Chloe is great. I've always found her so charsimatic.

@Shannon. If you're heading to the gold coast go to Surfers Paradise then find this place called Circle on Cavill its great for designer. Also head to Platinum in the Cavill mall. Tedder Ave, Main Beach. That's all I can think of. Also Pacific Fair at Broadbeach is a really big centre and you can fin some pretty good pieces if you scourange through the trash haha... But do not go to Australia Fair at Southport - its so shit. That's pretty much all there is!! Hope that helps

Chloë mentioned this particular look in her style column in the April 2008 issue of Elle (UK). There was a photo of her wearing the outfit with the following comments:

"I'm exhausted here. I was wearing this Chloé sweater dress back to front. I didn't realise until after the Chloé show."

@thecheekycritic

Ohh that's so great, thankyou for posting that! Does it mention who her boots are by?

Sigh, how can she be so exhaused and still look immaculate..?

Mustard: My middle school mistake. I was geeked out with frizzy hair, Ugly Betty braces and pink acrylic glasses. And a mustard dress that I wore out to death with knee socks and Reeboks. Even I knew then I was outre.
